Cashed-up West Aussie tradies and FIFO workers are driving a boom in penis augmentation, spending up to $20,000 to add a few inches, according to a top cosmetic surgeon.

Dr Jayson Oates, medical director of Academy Face and Body in Subiaco, told The West Live the demand for penis enlargement procedures had grown dramatically since the pandemic hit.

“It’s really been developing a lot in the 10 years since I developed this procedure, but, since lockdown, I’d say we would have doubled in the number of bookings,” Dr Oates said.

“I’d say I’d probably see three, four, five men a week for this procedure.”

Dr Oates said research showed 60 per cent of men were “somewhat unhappy” with the “size, shape, appearance” of their appendages, despite their partners usually finding things perfectly acceptable.

“For guys, it’s very much an internal thing, and for a lot of them it reflects on their confidence and how confident they feel,” Dr Oates said.

Dr Oates said his patients were opting for the so-called Calibre procedure.

“What’s become really popular is using injectable fillers to augment the penis, like we put fillers in the lip or cheek,” the cosmetic surgeon said.

“It’s really a girth procedure, it makes it fatter.”
